current state of affairs:
trebor has 39 bottles frozen (24 fiji, 15 round) this should supply 2 food coolers for up to 4.875 days.
the plan:
- overview
- we will have two "deep freeze" coolers which contain small bottles of ice and dry ice only.
- each morning a designated person will transfer maybe 2 - 4 bottles from a deep freeze to food coolers
- the water from cool-but-no-longer-frozen bottles may be drunk or used, but the square fiji bottles are pricey and should not be disposed of.
- setup:
- i believe acorn and i will be responsible for one deep freeze each.
- those who have the small fiji water bottles should start filling them with potable water and freezing them now.
- you probably don't want to try and freeze all of them at once as it will over-load your freezer.
- freezers work best when there is space between items for airflow.
- acorn and i will gather up frozen bottles from whomever has them and pack them into deep freeze coolers - the target is a little more then half full.
- in reno (as late as possible), we each fill the remaining space with dry ice. many supermarkets in reno sell dry ice, however these guys are right off the highway:
- the dry ice goes on the bottom, and the water bottles go on top. (this should happen in reno - not on the playa)
- some bottles will probably be used for food coolers on the way out to the playa.
- ideally the last to arrive in camp (les & mike?) would swing by and pick up supplemental dry ice and transport it out to the playa in a small cooler.
- fun facts
- dry ice lasts longer when it's surface area is covered
- when packing the a deep freeze, wrap ice in bags
- fill empty space in cooler balled up paper bags or whatever you can find
- doing all this means never having to
- stand in line, pay for, or or lug water ice - and you can enjoy a smug morning walk through the 3 o'clock plaza :)
- deal with cooler soup.
