There are 3 kinds of people who may camp with You Are Here:
Campmates
Campmates camp with You Are Here, and participate in preparation, cleanup, decision-making (except campmate & core member invitations), et cetera.
Core members
Core members are identical to campmates except when members are selected at the very beginning of camp planning:
- Core members decide who to invite as campmates.
- Core members in year N are automatically core members again in year N+1.
- After year N, core members decide which campmates become core members in year N+1, and which they would prefer not to camp with again.
Any core member can veto a prospective campmate or core member before the invitation is issued. Discussions should take place among core members, rationale is not required for a veto & by default, discussion should not be passed on to campmates. Year N's core members decide what to tell any campmate who didn't work out in year N.
Neighbors
Neighbors camp in any extra space allocated to You Are Here. Neighbors may be added on the fly on the playa and do not participate in decision-making or preparation. Any campmate can authorize neighbors but it can be hard to tell whether prospective neighbors will clean up after themselves, or have any severely anti-social behavior, so it seems to be a good idea to get a couple of campmates involved.
